What is Desktop Publishing?

Desktop publishing is the layout of pages by computerized manipulation of text and graphics to create an interesting and pleasing design. In desktop publishing, we combine creative writing with a variety of font styles and sizes with graphics in various page layouts to produce professional-quality materials quickly and inexpensively.

Desktop publishing is very different from word processing. Word processing is primarily used for processing text with special paragraph or font formatting, but without unique layout qualities.
